JKTA demands release of pending ATD transfer lists for Jammu, Udhampur
10/7/2025 6:09:15 PM

early times report

Jammu, Oct 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Association (JKTA) has strongly urged the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) to immediately release the pending Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) lists for the districts of Jammu and Udhampur.
Addressing the issue, Bhupinder Singh, UT President of JKTA, expressed deep concern over the inordinate delay in publishing the ATD lists for these two districts. He pointed out that while the transfer process for eight other districts of the Jammu division has already been completed, teachers of Jammu and Udhampur continue to remain in a state of uncertainty.
Singh emphasized that such delays not only cause administrative inconvenience but also disrupt the smooth functioning of schools. He stated that maintaining a proper Pupil-Teacher Ratio (PTR) is fundamental to improving the quality of education and ensuring equitable distribution of teaching staff across all educational institutions.
“Teachers from Jammu and Udhampur have been waiting for their transfers under the Annual Transfer Drive for a long time. Many have completed their tenure in far-flung areas and are entitled to be shifted as per the established norms. The unnecessary delay has created unrest and disappointment among the teaching community,” Singh remarked.
The UT President further appealed to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Education Minister Sakina Itoo to intervene in the matter and take up the issue with the concerned authorities. He urged the government to treat the teachers of Jammu and Udhampur on par with their counterparts in other districts and ensure transparency and fairness in the implementation of the transfer policy.
Singh reiterated that JKTA fully supports the government’s initiative of rationalizing staff through the Annual Transfer Drive, but insisted that timely action and equal treatment are essential for maintaining trust and efficiency within the education system.
He also called upon the Directorate of School Education Jammu to expedite the process and release the pending lists at the earliest, so that the academic work in schools continues smoothly without any disruption.
