UDHAMPUR, Oct 7: Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur actively celebrated Sewa Parv (17th September – 2nd October, 2025) in line with the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 Under the able guidance of Principal, GCW Udhampur and coordination of NSS, NCC, Red Cross, Eco-Club, and Literary Club, the college organized a series of impactful activities connecting students with community service, social responsibility, and Gandhian values. The celebration began with a Donation Drive on 17th Sept. where the students and staff contributed clothes, books, and hygiene kits to the underprivileged communities. On 18th Sept, NCC Cadets visited a local Old Age Home, presenting cultural programs, distributing essentials, and interacting with the elderly. To promote inclusive education, the college held Adult Literacy Programs (19th–20th Sept) for community workers, followed by Cleanliness Drives (21st–22nd Sept) in the adopted locality and college campus. The Plantation Drive (23rd–24th Sept) saw students planting saplings in the campus and nearby villages. The importance of maintaining good health and wellness were emphasized through awareness rallies, a general health camp, and a women-focused camp (25th–27th Sept). The college also organized Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan (28th–29th Sept) with rallies, wall paintings, and pledges against substance abuse. Creative expression was encouraged through various activities organized by the Literary Club like Slogan and Essay writing competitions (30th Sept–1st Oct) on themes of Swachhata, Seva, and Nationalism, book review and discussion of Gandhiji's autobiography "My Experiments with Truth" followed by screening of movie 'Gandhi'. This 15 day long programme 'Sewa Parv' concluded on 2nd October with a valedictory function featuring floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Saraswati Vandana, cultural program, prize distribution ceremony reaffirming students’ commitment to Gandhian ideals of truth, peace, and service. Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, Principal of GCW Udhampur lauded the efforts of students and staff, in organizing the entire event highlighting that the celebration of Sewa Parv nurtures responsible, value-driven citizens dedicated to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 and sensitized the students regarding the value of selfless service, health and hygiene, cleanliness and harmful effects of drugs. The event was coordinated by all the Conveners of concerned committees and Clubs - Dr. Geetanjli Rajput, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Kamaldeep Kaur, Dr. Kusha Sharma, Prof. Neha Anthal.
