GDC Thannamandi hosts two-day training programme of Bharat Scouts, Guides

Thannamandi, Oct 7: The Rovers and Rangers Unit of Government Degree College Thannamandi successfully organized a Two-Day Training Programme under the Pravesh Course of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, aimed at orienting newly enrolled Rovers and Rangers with the movement’s core values, principles, and practices. The initiative focused on fostering a spirit of service, discipline, and leadership among youth.
The programme was held under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Farooq Ahmad, who inaugurated the event with an inspiring address. He encouraged students to embrace the ethos of the Bharat Scouts and Guides and participate actively in such initiatives for holistic development and nation-building.
The welcome session witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, Rover and Ranger leaders, and students. Dr. Nagina Kouser, Unit Leader of Rangers, delivered a warm and spirited welcome address, setting the tone for the programme. Prof. Altaf Hussain, Unit Leader of Rovers, highlighted the objectives and significance of the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement, emphasizing its role in shaping responsible citizens.
Mr. Basher Ahmad Shawl, Secretary of Bharat Scouts and Guides, District Rajouri, served as the resource person and conducted sessions through interactive lectures, demonstrations, and practical activities. Mr Rizwan Ul Zamma master trainer of Bharat Scouts and guides also interacted with the participants and shared his experiences and valuable insights with the rovers and rangers.
Over the two days, participants were trained in: Introduction to the Scout/Guide Movement and its Fundamentals, Scout Promise and Law, Flag Ceremony and Uniform Etiquette, Basic Knots and First Aid, Team Spirit, Discipline, and Leadership Skills, Community Service and Environmental Awareness
The programme concluded with a valedictory function where Principal Prof. Farooq Ahmad unfurled the flag of Bharat Scouts and Guides, followed by the observance of the Scout Prayer and Flag Song.
He lauded the efforts of the organizing team and participants, reiterating the importance of instilling moral values and community service among students.
The event culminated with the formal vote of thanks by Prof Altaf Hussain unit Leader Rovers.
