Shivani Charak emerged as the star performer, securing two gold medals in lead and speed climbing and a silver medal in bouldering in the women's category. Arun Deep Singh also displayed commendable skill, winning two silver medals in lead and speed climbing in the Men's category. In the lead climbing event, Shivani, an international medalist, faced an unexpected tough challenge from Anvi Girish Mudgal, originally from Maharashtra but representing Delhi. Both scaled the same height but Shivani's faster timing of 2.18 minutes against Anvi's 5.17 minutes earned her the top position and the coveted gold. In speed climbing Shivani displayed excellent agility and power to secure another gold medal with ease. Despite being out of regular practice her vast experience helped her clinch a silver medal in bouldering also. Arun Deep too performed impressively claiming silver medals in both speed and lead climbing in the Mens category. The North Zone competition was organised by IMF North Zone Committee, New Delhi across three specialized venues in Delhi, with speed climbing held at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, lead climbing at the Climbing Centre and bouldering at Boulder Box. |
