Terror ecosystem dismantled, time to present true narrative of J&K: LG Sinha | | | Sanjay Pandita Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 11: In a hard-hitting statement, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday revealed that writers and media figures in Kashmir were forced to promote narratives "pushed from across the border" due to fear of terrorists and their ecosystem, distorting the region's true story for decades. "Writers and media figures grudgingly admit that, out of fear of terrorists and their ecosystem, they were forced to promote the narrative being pushed from across the border in the Valley," Sinha said while inaugurating the second edition of the Kashmir Literature Festival, organized by Srikula Foundation at Srinagar. The LG declared that with the dismantling of the terror ecosystem, the time has come to present the true narrative of Jammu and Kashmir, free from all bias and fear of guns. He emphasized that correcting this manipulated narrative is crucial to strengthen trust and accelerate socio-economic growth in the region. Sinha made a powerful appeal to young historians and writers to challenge and correct misleading historical accounts with research and critical proof. He alleged that during the colonial era and after independence, a certain group of writers distorted our history to shape their ideological agenda. “Today, young historians must provide accurate and factually correct accounts challenging those lies,” the LG asserted, praising recent efforts by new writers to address historical injustices done to India's history. The Lieutenant Governor specifically called for correcting the narrative regarding Jammu and Kashmir by identifying misinformation and countering it with verified facts. He highlighted that for decades, a manipulated version of events was propagated in the region, but the changed security situation now allows for truth to emerge without fear. Sinha also stressed the need for offering new perspectives and vision to readers in a rapidly evolving world to meet unprecedented challenges and opportunities, while enhancing understanding of nature, culture, and people's well-being. He commended initiatives to promote Indian literature globally, calling them “highly commendable”. The inaugural ceremony witnessed participation from Lieutenant General (Retd.) D.P. Pandey, Yuvraj Srivastava (Founder, Srikula Foundation), senior government officials, prominent literary personalities, foundation members, and a large gathering of youth and citizens from various walks of life. The Kashmir Literature Festival is expected to provide a platform for open discourse and authentic narratives about the region's history, culture, and contemporary realities. |
