Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 11: Under the Expert Lecture Series initiated by the Faculty of Basic Sciences, SKUAST-Jammu, an enlightening lecture was delivered by Dr. Vaibhav Srivastava, Group Leader, Division of Glycoscience, Department of Chemistry, CBH School, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), AlbaNova University Centre, Stockholm, Sweden, on the topic "Mass Spectrometry Based Proteomics." The event was held under the able guidance of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. Srivastava discussed the principles and applications of mass spectrometry-based proteomics, covering techniques such as bottom-up and top-down proteomics, electrospray ionization, and MS data analysis for protein identification and characterization. He elaborated on longer peptide-complex fragment spectra, post-translational modifications, and the integration of proteomics with functional genomics to study cellular pathways, disease mechanisms, and crop improvement. The lecture also highlighted possibilities of international research collaboration between KTH Sweden and SKUAST-Jammu. The session was hosted by Prof. Sanjay Guleria, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, and coordinated by Dr. Vinod Kumar, Associate Professor, Division of Biochemistry. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from Heads of Divisions, faculty members, researchers, and students, who actively interacted with the speaker. |
