Indian Red Cross Society, organized medical check-up, Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camp | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 11: The Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu & Kashmir today organized a Medical Check-up and Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camp at Government High School, Chak Largan, for the students and the local residents of the village. The camp was conducted as part of thec Society's ongoing initiatives to promote health awareness, preventive care, and menstrual hygiene among rural communities. Team Red Cross including Dr. Manpreet Kour, Medical Officer, Sh. Balbir Singh, Lab Technician, Sh. Joginder Kumar, Pharmacist and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer from the Red Cross provided free medical consultations, health screenings, and diagnostic services to the participants. Students, women, and elderly people were examined for various health issues such as anemia, nutritional deficiencies, Blood sugar, Hypertension and seasonal illnesses. In addition to the general health check-up, a special session on Menstrual Hygiene Management was organized for adolescent girls and women to raise awareness about maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation, safe and sustainable sanitary practices, and breaking social taboos associated with it. The Red Cross team also distributed sanitary napkins among the participants to promote the message of menstrual health and dignity. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, said, "The Red Cross Society is committed to ensuring that quality healthcare and awareness reach every corner of Jammu & Kashmir, especially rural and underprivileged areas. Through our mobile health van and awareness initiatives, we aim to promote a culture of health, hygiene, and compassion among all sections of society." The local residents and school authorities expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, for bringing essential healthcare and awareness programs to their doorstep.
