10/12/2025 6:50:43 PM

early times report

Jammu, Oct 12: Leaders and workers of the Apni Party today held a strong protest at Sidhra, demanding immediate restoration of the Sidhra–Panchtirthi road that was severely damaged during the recent floods.
The protest was led by Abhay Bakaya, District President, Jammu Urban, and witnessed participation from a large number of local residents and Apni Party leaders Provincial Vice President Arun Chibber , Provincial Secertry Ajaz Kazmi , District President jammu Urban Abhay Bakaya , Social Media incharge jammu Province Vaibhav Mattoo , Senior Vice president District jammu Urban Neelam Gupta , District President KP Wing Jammu Chand ji Bhat , Secertry's District jammu Urban Sheekha Bhardwaj , Girdari lal Pandita, Shakti Devi, upender Raina , Muskan and others
Speaking at the protest, Bakaya highlighted that the Sidhra–Panchtirthi road serves as a crucial link connecting Sidhra to Jammu city and Panchtirthi to Nagrota, and its continued closure for nearly two months has made life difficult for commuters. The damaged condition of the road has made it accident-prone, forcing students, office-goers, and locals to travel an additional 25–30 kilometers daily and pay nearly triple the usual fare.
Bakaya criticized the National Conference (NC)-led government for its inaction, stating that the people of the region continue to suffer due to political blame games between NC and BJP.
“The NC government must answer the people’s suffering. The delay in restoring this vital road is unacceptable,” Bakaya said, adding that Apni Party stands firmly with the people of Sidhra and Panchtirthi.
