Jammu, Oct 12: Jammu (Rural) Police organised a friendly cricket match between the J&K Police team and the local team at Govt. HSS Ghou Manhasan. The match, played with a tennis ball, witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of nearly 200–300 spectators. SP Rural, along with IC PP Pouni Chak and IC BPP Sandwan, also participated in the event. The Police team emerged victorious, and the audience appreciated the efforts of Jammu (Rural) Police for organising such a wonderful sporting event. After the match, SP Rural distributed two cricket bats and a dozen tennis balls among the players. While addressing the gathering, SP Rural emphasised that such initiatives aim to channel the energy of youth in a positive direction, prevent involvement in social crimes such as drug abuse, and promote local sporting talent. He added that sports help in maintaining physical fitness and discipline, reiterating that “a healthy body houses a healthy mind.” The former Chairman of the Municipal Council and other prominent citizens of the area were also present on the occasion. SP Rural assured that more such sports activities will be organised by J&K Police under the Civic Action Programme to promote community engagement and youth development.
