UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: To create awareness among girl students, the Internal Complaints Committee against Sexual Harassment/Eve teasing of Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur organized a Poster Making cum Slogan Writing Competition on the topic “Violence against Women” in the college campus under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The event was organized under the supervision of Dr. Indu Khajuria (Convener, CASH). The objective of this activity was to make students aware of the issues of violence against women in society and the role of society in curbing this evil. On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Dr. Nalini Pathania was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal appreciated the efforts of the organisers in organising such awareness programmes and said that this would help the students in increasing their knowledge about their rights and responsibilities in educational institutions and utilise them in the right direction. About 16 students of the college participated in the competition and its aim was to bring out their creativity and create awareness about the importance of violence against women. In the competition, Ms. Simran of Semester 3rd and Ms. Rashika of Semester 5th were selected as the best. The poster making and slogan writing competitions were judged by a panel of experts consisting of Dr. Monika Gupta, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Madhavi Bhardwaj, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, and Dr. Neha Antal, Assistant Professor of Zoology. Earlier, Dr. Indu Khajuria, Convener CASH, delivered the formal welcome address. The program was conducted by Dr. Mool Raj, Member CASH, Head of the Urdu Department. The programme was successfully conducted by thenternal Complaint Committee against Sexual Harassment /Eve-teasing comprising Dr. Indu Khajuria (Convener), Dr. Mool Raj and Prof. Yash Kumar (Members). Among others, Dr. Geetanjli Rajput HoD English Member CASH, Dr. Monika Gupta Associate Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Madhvi Bhardwaj, Dr. Anita Kumari Assistant Professor of Zoology and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
