Srinagar, Oct 15: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory (J&K UT), Srinagar Chapter, successfully conducted an Awareness Programme on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) today among students of Amar Singh College, Srinagar. The programme was organised on the directions of General Secretary, Mr. Rohit Khajuria. The initiative aimed to empower the youth with life-saving skills to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies. The programme was presided over by Mr. G.A. Qureshi, Honorary Treasurer, IRCS-J&K, who emphasized the critical importance of CPR in saving lives during sudden cardiac arrests. "In situations where every second counts, basic CPR knowledge can be the difference between life and death. We are committed to spreading this vital awareness across communities," Mr. Qureshi stated. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Zonal Medical Office, Batamalloo, the session featured hands-on training and demonstrations led by expert medical professionals Dr. Mudasir Hakim and Dr. Aasia Noor. The doctors imparted essential basics of CPR, including chest compressions, rescue breaths tailored for non-medical participants. Over 30 number of students actively engaged in practical exercises, fostering confidence in applying these techniques in real-life scenarios. Mr. G.A. Qureshi, highlighted the society's ongoing mission to promote disaster preparedness and public health education. "Under the guidance of the Indian Red Cross, we are bridging the gap in emergency response training, especially in educational institutions, to build a safer J&K," he added. |
