Jammu, Oct 17: Under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) and the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), JKSPYM State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) for the UT of J&K and Ladakh, organized a one-day Awareness Program for Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) on “Drug Abuse Prevention” at Subhash Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with NISD, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India. The program witnessed the participation of more than 70 IDUs. The program aimed to educate participants about the health risks associated with drug use, especially injecting drug practices, and to promote safe and healthy lifestyles. Experts from SLCA discussed topics such as prevention strategies, treatment options, harm reduction, and the importance of community and family support in recovery. Participants were also informed about government initiatives and available rehabilitation services under the NMBA and NAPDDR. The interactive session encouraged open dialogue, helping individuals understand the consequences of drug abuse and motivating them towards seeking help and adopting positive behavioral changes. Nukkad Natak on “Drug Abuse” was organized at the end of the program. The initiative was part of JKSPYM’s ongoing efforts under NMBA and NAPDDR to strengthen community-level engagement, spread preventive messages, and build a united front against drug abuse in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
