SRINAGAR, Oct 17: The Meteorological Department (IMD) today said that Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness mainly dry weather conditions over the next several days, with only a brief spell of very light snowfall expected over isolated higher reaches of north Kashmir during the coming week. According to the MeT forecast, generally dry weather is expected across the union Territory on October 17, 19, and 20. The weather may turn partly to generally cloudy during the afternoon or evening hours on October 18 and 21. On October 21, there is a possibility of a brief spell of very light snow over isolated higher reaches of north Kashmir, the forecast said. The weather is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy with dry conditions from October 22 to 23, while another brief spell of light snow over isolated higher reaches of north Kashmir is possible on October 24. The period from October 25 to 26 is expected to remain mostly dry. Meanwhile, the minimum night temperatures remained above normal across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir According to the MeT data, temperatures in the Kashmir division were recorded 1-3 degrees celsius above normal, while in the Jammu division, they were 0-2 degrees celsius higher than the seasonal average. The hill resort of Pahalgam, in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the Valley at 3.8 degrees celsius, while Banihal registered the lowest in the Jammu region at 6.7 degrees celsius. |
