MALIGAON, Oct 17: A state-of-the-art KAVACH Lab Model was inaugurated today by Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway, at the Signal & Telecom Specialized Training Centre (STC), Pandu. The commissioning of this advanced facility marks a significant milestone in Indian Railways' journey towards safer, smarter and more reliable train operations. KAVACH, adopted as the National Automatic Train Protection (ATP) System on 4th July 2020, is an indigenously developed safety technology aligned with the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. The system is designed to prevent train collisions, ensure strict adherence to signal aspects and automatically regulate train speed to avert potential accidents. It stands as a testament to Indian Railways' unwavering commitment to achieving the Zero Accident Mission and embodies the spirit of self-reliance through the development of cutting-edge, homegrown safety solutions. The newly commissioned KAVACH Lab Model at STC/Pandu is equipped with all essential KAVACH subsystems, including Station KAVACH, Loco KAVACH, Radio Frequency Communication, GSM and GPS antennas, Loco Pilot Driver Machine Interface, Station Master Operation-cum-Indication Panel and a Simulation Panel. The lab has been designed to realistically simulate train movements between stations, providing a comprehensive, hands-on training environment for Signal & Telecom personnel, Loco Pilots, Assistant Loco Pilots and other key railway staff associated with KAVACH implementation, operation and maintenance. By replicating real-world operational conditions, the facility will enhance the understanding of system functionalities, fault diagnostics, and coordination among various KAVACH components. This initiative will significantly boost the technical proficiency and preparedness of railway personnel, ensuring safer and more efficient train operations across the network. |
