Theft in temple premises solved within days, accused arrested | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Oct 19: Exhibiting prompt action and effective investigation, Reasi Police have solved a theft case reported from a temple premises in the main bazaar area of Katra within a short span of time, leading to the arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen gold ornaments. On 15/10/2025, a complaint was received at Police Station Katra regarding the theft of gold ornaments from the idol inside a temple located in the main bazaar. Acting swiftly, FIR No. 281/2025 under sections 331(4)/305(d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered and investigation was taken up. Through strenuous efforts, diligent fieldwork and analysis of available leads, the police successfully identified and apprehended the suspect — Shakti Kumar Verma S/O Sansar Chand R/O Garhi, District Udhampur. During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the theft. On his disclosure, 30 grams of gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 3 lakh were recovered from his possession. The swift detection of the case reflects the dedication and efficiency of Reasi Police in maintaining law and order and ensuring justice to the community. Further investigation is underway to ascertain any possible involvement of the accused in similar incidents. The whole operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp.
