Doon International School Jammu hosts "DOON CUP 2025"

JAMMU, Oct 19: Doon International School Jammu proudly hosted the much-awaited DOON CUP 2025, a five-day inter-school sports extravaganza that witnessed enthusiastic participation from 26 leading CBSE schools of Jammu. The tournament featured three major sporting events - Cricket, Football, and Basketball, uniting 1000 young athletes in a vibrant celebration of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The grand opening ceremony of this Sporting festival was graced by Padma Shri Faisal Ali Dar, India's first martial artist to receive the prestigious Padma Shri award, as the Chief Guest. The event commenced with a warm and heartfelt teachers' welcome song, setting a joyous and respectful tone for the day.
A symbolic torch-lighting ceremony performed by the Chief Guest along with the school dignitaries illuminated the spirit of unity and determination among participants. One of the most mesmerizing moments was the balloon and pigeon release, symbolizing peace, hope, and the soaring ambitions of every athlete taking part in the tournament.
The distinguished dignitaries who graced the occasion included Chairman Mr. G.N. Tantray, Vice Chairman Mr. M.A. Tantray, Principal Dr. Vikesh Kaur, Directors Mr. Ehsaan Ul Nabi and Mr. Leesan Ul Nabi, Vice Principal Dr. Sarita Moza Koul, Headmistress Ms. Shivali Singh Pathania, and Chief Coordinator Mr. Surinder Singh along with the sports officials and coaches of various schools. They collectively appreciated the participating schools for their energy and encouraged students to continue exhibiting exceptional team spirit and enthusiasm throughout the tournament.
This five days' long sports extravaganza concluded with a spectacular closing ceremony of DOON CUP 2025 exhibiting immense excitement and joy, marking the culmination of five dynamic days of sporting excellence. The Chief Guest for the valedictory function was Sh. Ranjeet Kalra, Member of the Governing Council (Sports), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board & Former J&K Cricketer.
The final day featured three thrilling championship matches:
o In Football, Doon International School Jammu emerged as the champion, defeating JK Public School Jammu in an intense final battle.
o In Basketball, Sainik School Nagrota claimed the winner's title, while Doon International School Jammu secured the runner-up position.
o In Cricket, KC International School triumphed over Model Academy School to lift the coveted trophy.
The atmosphere was filled with cheers and applause as Director Mr. Leesan Ul Nabi and Academic Manager Ms. Gazia Khan joined the audience to witness and enjoy the thrilling matches, extending heartfelt appreciation to each participating team and school for their exceptional performances and sportsmanship.
The biggest moment of pride came when Doon International School Jammu was declared the Overall Champion of DOON CUP 2025, securing the highest aggregate points across all categories being winners of one title and runners up of the another game .
Principal Dr. Vikesh Kaur expressed immense satisfaction on the splendid execution of the event and lauded the participants for their commitment and discipline. The coaches, officials, and volunteers were also honored with trophies of appreciation for their exemplary contributions in making the tournament a resounding success.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Vice Principal Dr. Sarita Moza Koul, who extended gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, participants, and the organizing committee for their unwavering support and dedication in making DOON CUP 2025 a grand celebration of sportsmanship and excellence.
