AMRITSAR, Oct 19: Under the patronage of Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, the Punjab School of Economics, in collaboration with SEBI-AMFI organized an Investor awareness programme on 'Financial Empowerment through Investments'. The event started with the recitation of Shabad and felicitation of the guests. Dr. Baljit Kaur, Head, Punjab School of Economics, welcomed all the guests and participants of the programme and highlighted the theme of the programme, The event was presided over by Prof. Harvinder Singh Saini, Dean Students Welfare. In his presidential remarks, he emphasised that financial literacy has emerged as an essential life skill. The Chief Guest of the event, Mr. Venkat N Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer, AMFI, highlighted the importance of planned savings and prudent financial planning with the help of technology. Furthermore, he emphasized on the importance of systematic investment plans for investing in mutual funds as it is going to pave the way for VIKSIT BHARAT @ 2047. Mr. Achal Singh, General Manager, SEBI, encouraged the young participants to be a smart and informed investors to invest through Mutual Funds and become a part of growing India. Mr. Suryakant Sharma, Senior Consultant, AMFI, gave a detailed overview about the mutual funds and different channels of investments available for various categories of risk takers. He also highlighted the role of NISM for providing online courses for masses to impart financial awareness. He also discussed various dividend options, growth options and financial empowerment through good knowledge of investments. In the last, Dr. Baljit Kaur proposed a vote of thanks. Senior professors Dr. P.S. Raikhy and Dr. Om Prakash also graced the occasion with their presence. Dr. Swati Mehta, Dr. Amanpreet Kaur and other faculty members were also present during the event. Hosting this event was a matter of pride for Guru Nanak Dev University as it provided the students with invaluable exposure regarding informed investment decisions. |
