Jammu, Oct 31: The Jammu Municipal Corporation’s (JMC) relentless drive against dengue has yielded remarkable results, with the city recording a 62% decline in dengue cases this year compared to 2024.
According to official data, 2,932 dengue cases were reported in Jammu city till October 28, 2024, whereas, only 1,097 cases have been recorded during the same period in 2025. This significant reduction underscores JMC’s effective strategies and sustained public health interventions.
Under the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav, the JMC has launched four major anti-dengue and anti-chikungunya campaigns over the past four months. The Commissioner has been personally monitoring the progress and has issued strict instructions to Joint Commissioner (Health & Sanitation) and Health Officer to intensify efforts on all fronts.
The JMC undertook extensive fogging and spraying operations in all 75 municipal wards as per a structured roster in close coordination with the Malaria Department of Health. The campaign began in the second half of July and culminated in a special fogging drive on October 11. In addition, regular review meetings were conducted to ensure accountability and public engagement.
To enhance awareness, JMC also utilized its garbage collection autos for community announcements, spreading information about dengue prevention and encouraging public cooperation. These combined efforts have played a key role in reducing the disease’s spread across the city. |
