Nation Pays Tributes
10/31/2025 10:34:31 PM
Nation paid rich tributes Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, on his 150th birth anniversary.
As part of the nationwide celebrations, a series of events including Run for Unity, Ekta Pledge ceremonies, photo exhibitions, seminars and plantation drives were held in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sardar Patel, country’s first Deputy Prime Minister, had shown unparalleled determination in integrating more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union after 1947, a task many at the time thought was impossible.
At that time, the entire world thought that it would be impossible to unite these 562 princely states into one nation.
However, within a short span of time, Sardar Patel accomplished the monumental errand. The map of modern India that we see today is the result of his vision and efforts.
Patel’s diplomacy, courage, and administrative acumen transformed the fragmented political landscape into a unified country.
Some provinces were reluctant to integrate, but Sardar Patel addressed every issue with determination and foresight.
The leaders while paying rich tributes to the “iron Man” highlighted the enduring legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and urged all citizens to emulate his principles of unity, discipline and dedication.
They called upon citizens to uphold his ideals and emphasized that Patel’s life teaches us that nation-building requires selfless commitment and the ability to rise above narrow interests for the greater good.
Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary is also observed as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ and it reminds everyone that the strength of India lies in its unity.
While remembering Sardar Patel, PM Modi said: “He (Patel) believed that one should not waste time writing history but we should work hard to create history.”
While referring to the partition era, PM Modi said Sardar Patel wanted to unite the entire Kashmir, just as he did with other princely states. But Nehru ji stopped his wish from being fulfilled.
The observance of Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary is not merely a symbolic gesture; it is a reaffirmation of the values that bind India together — diversity, strength, and shared purpose. As the nation remembers the Iron Man, it must also renew its pledge to safeguard the unity and integrity of the country. That would be the truest tribute to the man who turned the dream of a united India into an enduring reality.
