| MCM empowers students through sessions on financial literacy, makeup artistry | | |  early times report
Chandigarh, Nov 1: The Postgraduate Department of Commerce at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), and in collaboration with the Financial and Tax Literacy Directorate of ICAI, organised an awareness programme on ‘Financial Literacy’. The resource person, CA Uma Kant, conducted two highly engaging and interactive sessions designed to educate students about managing personal finances and understanding the importance of early investments. In the first session, students learned the fundamentals of budgeting, saving, and financial planning. CA Uma Kant elaborated on the 50-30-20 budgeting rule, discussed the significance of setting realistic financial goals, and introduced Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) as a disciplined approach to investing. The second session delved into the concepts of compounding and the benefits of early investment. Students participated in practical exercises, allocating virtual funds across various investment avenues such as shares and gold, thereby gaining hands-on exposure to effective investment strategies. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 130 students and faculty members. In another initiative aimed at skill enhancement, the Add-on Department of Cosmetology and Beauty Care organised a Makeup Workshop in collaboration with Tress Lounge, Sector 8, Chandigarh. The workshop was led by industry experts- Palak (Academy Manager and Makeup Artist), Sumit Negi (Makeup Trainer), and Rahul (Makeup and Hair Artist). The experts demonstrated professional techniques and shared practical tips to enhance students’ artistry and creativity in makeup application. Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated both departments for conducting impactful and informative sessions that foster holistic learning and skill development among students
