Ramban, Nov 5: On 04 November 2025, under the supervision of DySP Hqtrs Ramban Sh Viqar Younus JKPS and overall supervision of SSP Ramban Sh Arun Gupta JKPS a special police team headed by PSI Manpreet Kour of Police Station Ramban, in collaboration with Mrs. Nighat Ghani, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Ramban, and Mr. Amit Kumar (JKAS), Assistant Labour Commissioner, Ramban conducted a series of special raids/drives against Child Labour/Child in Street Situation (CISS) within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramban. The drive was part of a concerted effort by various child protection authorities to eradicate child labour and ensure effective implementation of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986. During the operation, 10 children, all residents of District Ramban, were rescued from different establishments including hotels, mechanic workshops, barber shops, and salons. The raids were conducted in the areas of Maitra, Bowli Bazar, Karol, and Upper Bazar, Ramban. The rescued children were subsequently handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Ramban for necessary counselling, care, and rehabilitation as per the laid-down procedures. The district police has reiterated its commitment to protect the rights and welfare of children and warned that strict action will be taken against those found indulging in or promoting child labour.
