Jammu, Nov 10: The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial college, Hiranagar organized an Awareness Programme on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013 under the patronage of Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna to sensitize students and staff about ensuring a safe, respectful, and gender–equitable workplace and academic environment. She delivered informative and awareness-driven remarks, highlighting that “awareness is the first step toward prevention and empowerment.” She emphasized that every individual must understand their rights and responsibilities to ensure a workplace and campus free from discrimination and harassment. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Anupama Arora, who elaborated on various provisions of the POSH Act, including the role of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), procedures for filing complaints, and measures for prevention and redressal. Her talk inspired students and staff to actively contribute to building a culture of respect and safety. As part of the programme, students presented posters on gender sensitivity and workplace ethics, which were appreciated by the faculty and guests and felicitate them with token of appreciation. The program was coordinated by Prof. Neeru Sharma, Nodal officer, SHE Portal. She emphasized the significance of POSH awareness and sensitized the students about creating a respectful and safe campus environment.The events proceedings wereran by Dr. Nishu, highlighting the objectives of the POSH Act and the importance of creating awareness regarding workplace harassment issues. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Neeru Sharma, expressing gratitude to the speaker, faculty members, and participants for their enthusiastic involvement. A total of 87 students enthusiastically participated in the event. |
