GURDASPUR, Nov 10: Under the able guidance and visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. S. K. Misra, the Skill Development Centre (SDC) of Sardar Beant Singh State University, Gurdaspur was inaugurated on October 30, 2025. The Centre aims to enhance employability, promote entrepreneurship, and impart hands-on training to youth through various National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)-affiliated programs. All skill-based initiatives managed by NSDC are offered as short-term certificate courses at this Centre, focusing on both traditional and modern vocational domains. Continuing its commitment to skill empowerment, the Centre recently introduced a new course under the PM Vishwakarma Yojna, primarily focused on tailoring and garment construction skills. The program was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge and self-employment opportunities under the government's flagship initiative for artisans and craftsmen. A total of twelve candidates successfully completed the tailoring course, demonstrating excellent performance and enthusiasm throughout their training. To acknowledge their efforts, a certificate distribution ceremony was organized at the Centre. Vice Chancellor Dr. S. K. Misra distributed the certificates to the successful trainees, along with Registrar Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Harish Pungotra, Dr. Jagdev Singh, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Dr.Ranjit Singh, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Nrip Jit, Mohit Marwaha, and Madam Neetu and Horticulture incharge Vikram jeet
