Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 10: The School of Languages and Literature, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), inaugurated a two-day workshop on "Voices of India: Language, Culture, and Digital Humanities for Inclusive Education" on November 10, 2025. The workshop aims to explore the intersections of India's linguistic diversity, cultural expressions, and digital tools in promoting inclusive and equitable education. The inaugural session commenced with the arrival of guests and an invocation, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Anurag Kumar, Head, School of Languages and Literature, and Programme Coordinator. Dr. Kumar highlighted the significance of integrating language, culture, and technology to strengthen inclusive educational practices. Dr. Amitabh V. Dwivedi, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, emphasized the importance of linguistic plurality and the need for culturally responsive pedagogy. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he lauded the School's initiative and underscored the value of digital humanities in preserving and disseminating India's rich cultural heritage.The workshop brings together distinguished experts including Prof. Sunil Der from the Central University of Gujarat, Prof. Anil Kumar from the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dr. K. K. Pandey from the Ministry of Education, Dr. Amitash Ojha from IIT Jammu, and Dr. Subhash Chander from the University of Jammu. These eminent scholars will share their insights across various sessions on language, culture, and digital innovation in education. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Manpreet Sharma, Convener of the workshop, followed by a group photo session. The two-day event will continue with thematic sessions, expert interactions, and scholarly discussions designed to foster collaborative approaches toward inclusive education in India. |
