Jammu, Nov 17: The dynamic leadership of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu and guidance of Prof. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare, The NSS SKUAST-Jammu, Chatha celebrated Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada as a part of the year-long Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, one of India’s most revered tribal freedom fighters and a symbol of resistance against colonial rule. The Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada is being celebrated to recognise the sacrifices, culture, and heritage of India’s tribal communities and to integrate their inspiring stories into the nation’s collective consciousness.On the occasion of Janjatiya GauravVarsh Pakhwada, NSS volunteers of SKUAST-Jammu celebrated the event through short speeches, quiz competitions and debate based on his life. The NSS volunteers emphasized that Bhagwan Birsa Munda revived the concept that water, forest and land are integral elements of tribal ecosystem, livelihood and culture and they are everything for the tribals. The NSS volunteers briefed that in India's rich history, the name of Bhagwan Birsa Munda is etched as a brave warrior and social reformer who dedicated his life to the upliftment and rights of tribal society. The event was successfully organised with the support of Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap, University NSS Coordinator. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, NSS Programme Officer highlighted about Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada is celebrated to honor the sacrifices and contributions of tribal heroes, showcase their rich cultural heritage, and raise national consciousness about their role in the nation's development. The programme conducted as part of the regular NSS activities. |
