Ramnagar, Nov. 17: Government Degree College Ramnagar organised a grand Felicitation Ceremony in honour of the medal-winning students who excelled in the Annual Intercollegiate Sports Championship 2025–26 held at the University of Jammu. The event was held under the guidance of the esteemed Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, who himself welcomed, honoured, and felicitated all the winning players along with the College Sports Officer, Dr. Dinesh Kumar. In a proud achievement for the institution, GDC Ramnagar emerged Champion in Women’s Volleyball, securing the Intercollegiate Volleyball Championship 2025–26 by defeating the University of Jammu in straight sets with an impressive scoreline of 3–0. The team, led by Captain Priya Sharma, showcased extraordinary skill and coordination. Neha Sharma, Sonali Sharma, Sonia Sharma, Kashish Sharma, and Shivali Sharma were the standout performers in the final match. In another remarkable accomplishment, the college secured the Runner-up position in Women’s Table Tennis. Under the captainship of Varsha Thakur, the team performed exceptionally well in the championship hosted at the Table Tennis Hall, University of Jammu. Neha, Priya, and Diksha delivered outstanding performances in the finals. Continuing their winning streak, the Women’s Kho-Kho team clinched the Bronze Medal, defeating GDC Kathua in a thrilling bronze medal match. The team, captained by Priya Sharma, witnessed exceptional performances by Kashish, Preeti, and Captain Priya. In the boys’ category, Pardeep Kumar brought laurels to the college by winning the Bronze Medal in the Annual Cross-Country Running Championship. Adding another milestone to the college’s name, Ajay Kumar, a student of Semester I, has been selected to represent the University of Jammu in the prestigious All India Inter University Yoga Championship scheduled to be held in Tamil Nadu. The Principal commended the athletes for their dedication and achievements, stating, “These victories reflect the hard work, discipline, and commitment of our students. GDC Ramnagar is proud to witness such outstanding performances at the intercollegiate level. Our sports culture is growing stronger each year, and I extend heartfelt congratulations to all the medal winners, their captains, and our dynamic Sports Officer, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, whose leadership and consistent efforts have shaped our successful sports teams.
