Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 17: Today on 17-11-2025, A one-week Training Programme on "Capacity Building and Training of Women as Aapda Sakhi for Disaster Management" was inaugurated today by Shri Zahid Naseem Manhas, IPS, Commandant, SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu, at the Central Training Institute (CTI) HG/CD, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. He was accompanied by Smt. Snober Jameel, JKAS, Deputy Secretary to the Government, Department of DMRRR, J&K (Nodal Officer) & Principal CTI HG/CD Jammu, Dy.SP (Trainings), I/C Trainings, SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu. During the inaugural session, the Commandant highlighted the aims and objectives of the Aapda Sakhi Programme, a specialised initiative of Govt. of India to train women volunteers as community first responders during disasters. He stressed that the programme empowers women to provide immediate support in disaster-affected areas. The initiative Part of an important component of the Aapda Mitra Scheme,Of DMRRR J&K creating a trained volunteer force across the country equipped with essential skills for in disaster response, coordination, and management. On the occasion, Dy.SsP SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu, Area Commandants of Home Guards, and Dy. Controllers, Civil Defence, Jammu, Udhampur, Samba and Kathua were also present. The participants of the training programme include CD Wardens/Volunteers, NCC Cadets of 4th & 8th NCC Battalions, ASHA Workers, Health Department staff, Anganwadi Workers, Panchayat Secretaries, and RDD Workers. that said training programme will also be carried to train more Aapda Sakhi in future. |
