Sikh Progressive Front organizes exhibition hockey matches to mark 350th Shaheedi Divas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji

JAMMU, Nov 25: To commemorate the 350th Shaheedi Divas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Sikh Progressive Front organized exhibition hockey matches.
The first match was played between the girls' teams of Sahara Hockey Club and Khelo India. The match began at a very fast pace, with Sahara Club scoring the first goal in the 2nd minute, which was immediately equalized by the Khelo India team in the 4th minute of the match. Both teams displayed impressive skills and speed, making several attempts on the opponent's goal, but the score remained tied at 1-1.
The second match in the boys' category was played between Jammu East Hockey Club and Jammu South Hockey Club. Jammu East opened the scoring in the 15th minute through a field goal, which was equalized in the second quarter, in the 2nd quarter the score remained at 1-1. In the second half, Jammu South intensified their efforts and secured victory with a final score of 6-3 in their favour.
Worthy Deputy Inspector General of Police (Jammu-Samba Range), Sh. Shiv Kumar, was the Chief Guest. While speaking on the occasion, he praised the efforts of the Sikh Progressive Front and urged upon the parents to encourage their children to participate in outdoor sports in this era dominated by computer games and the menace of drugs.
Besides the members of the Sikh Progressive Front, other prominent personalities present in the guest gallery included former hockey veterans Mr. Iqbal Singh, Mr. Satbir Singh Sati, S. Harpreet Singh Bhapi (former national player), Manjit Singh Reen international Umpire, S. Janak Singh, S. Sharanjit Singh, S. Beyant Singh, and Narinder Singh. Members of the Kashmir Sangat were also present for both matches.
S. Surjit Singh, General Secretary DGPC, and S. Harjit Singh and S. Avtar Singh, members DGPC, were also present to witness the matches.
S. Tejpal Singh was awarded ?1000 in cash by Er. S. Beyant Singh, former national player, for his excellent performance, while S. Jasjot Singh was presented a memento by S. Jarnail Singh, Sports Officer, for his commendable play. Both matches were supervised by national-level umpires.
Mr. Balvinder Singh, President of the Sikh Progressive Front, in his address, assured that such events will be organised regularly, involving more teams to ensure greater youth participation in sports and to motivate them to move away from indoor computer-based activities.
It is worth mentioning that the Sikh Progressive Front is a social organization dedicated to the welfare of poor and marginalized meritorious Sikh students. In addition, it remains at the forefront in promoting sports activities and spearheading anti-drug initiatives.
