NEW DELHI, Nov 25: The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS) of EPFO hosted the 23rd edition of Reimagining Governance: Discourse for Excellence (RGDE) with noted economist and former Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, delivering the keynote address. Dr. Kumar opened his remarks by appreciating PDNASS for creating a rare and steady space for honest governance conversations. He described RGDE as "a forum unmatched across both public and private institutions," noting the importance of such platforms in shaping administrative thinking. Welcoming the participants, Kumar Rohit, Director PDUNASS, spoke about the founding spirit of RGDE that reflection, when done sincerely, can lead to improvement and meaningful action. He recalled the lines cited earlier in the day by the Hon'ble Prime Minister at Ayodhya on the "Chariot of Development," guided by truth, courage, compassion, balance, and character. These, he said, must remain the guiding principles of national governance. Reimagining India's Future Setting the context for the theme "India at 2047," Dr. Kumar said that India's long-term development cannot be defined by growth numbers alone. While goals such as regaining India's historical share of global GDP, joining the OECD, or achieving high-income status are relevant, they are not enough. India, he argued, must aim for Gross Welfare Product grounded in universal free healthcare, universal free education, and robust public infrastructure. The state, he said, must build these foundational assets, while the private sector must drive innovation, R&D, and new job creation. |
