Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 25: On the sidelines of world heritage week, Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in collaboration with the District Administration organised a Heritage Walk today from Mubarak Mandi to Amar Mahal Museum . The event was formally flagged off by Joint Director Tourism, Aijaz Qaiser, JKAS, marking an enriching cultural experience for students and faculty members from the Food Craft Institute Nagrota, Guru Nanak Public School Jammu, and NITS Polytechnic Jammu. The walk commenced at 9:00 AM from the historic Mubarak Mandi complex, where participants were briefed on its architectural evolution and cultural significance. Traversing through the old city, the Walk offered participants a firsthand experience of Jammu's heritage corridors, architectural treasures, and the timeless charm of its historic spaces. Upon arriving at Amar Mahal Museum, students interacted with heritage experts and received valuable insights into the importance of conservation and the region's royal legacy. The walk was organised on the directions of ACS/FC Tourism Department, Dr. Ashish Chander Verma, IAS, and under the supervision of Director Tourism, Dr. Vikas Gupta, KAS. The visit to Amar Mahal Museum was hosted by Kunwarani Ritu Singh Ji and Shri M.K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, who warmly welcomed all participants. Students toured the various galleries, including the famed Nal-Damyanti Gallery, observing rare artworks and exhibits reflecting Jammu's rich cultural and artistic traditions. Sweets and refreshments were offered thereafter as a gesture of hospitality. The Department of Tourism expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Administration Jammu and all participating institutions for their cooperation and support. The Department reaffirmed its commitment to inspiring cultural awareness among youth and fostering pride in Jammu's heritage through such initiatives, which provide meaningful exposure and memorable learning experiences. |
