Jammu, Nov 27: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rohiin Chandan today wholeheartedly praised the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Government for taking decisive and citizen-centric measures to curb the rising menace of digital frauds and identity thefts across the country. Chandan highlighted the government’s proactive approach in strengthening India’s digital security architecture, with special emphasis on the Unique Identification Authority of India’s (UIDAI) proposed major overhaul of the Aadhaar card design. He said Modi Sarkaar has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to protecting every Indian from the clutches of cyber criminals and fraudsters, Rohiin Chandan said. “At a time when digital scams, phishing attacks, and misuse of personal data have become alarmingly common, the Centre’s decision to radically simplify and secure the Aadhaar card is nothing short of revolutionary.” Chandan said UIDAI, the authority, is actively considering the introduction of a new-generation Aadhaar card that will display only the cardholder’s photograph and a dynamic QR code on the physical card. All sensitive personal information—including the full name, complete residential address, date of birth, and most importantly the 12-digit Aadhaar number—will be completely removed from the printed version. This pathbreaking move is aimed at drastically reducing the risk of identity theft and misuse of personal data that often occurs when physical Aadhaar cards are lost, stolen, or deliberately photographed and circulated by unscrupulous elements. He explained that the new masked Aadhaar card will prevent fraudsters from accessing personal details via a photocopy. The QR code, scanned by authorized entities through secure channels, reveals only essential information after multi-layer authentication, ensuring both privacy and usability. “This is digital India at its finest—secure, simple, and citizen-first,” the BJP leader remarked. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is not just building world-class digital infrastructure but is also setting global benchmarks in data protection and privacy. While the opposition indulges in petty politics, the Modi government is silently working 24×7 to safeguard the hard-earned money and dignity of common citizens.” The proposed redesign, part of a larger ecosystem initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Home Ministry, includes measures like facial recognition authentication and the 'Virtual Aadhaar ID' system. These initiatives have blocked fraudulent transactions and saved significant amounts for citizens. Changes will be rolled out gradually after public consultation and technical trials. Rohiin Chandan urged citizens to enable Aadhaar biometric lock and use masked Aadhaar or Virtual ID for transactions. He called on state governments, banks, telecom companies, and service providers to adopt QR-based and paperless verification mechanisms to combat digital fraud. Chandan praised PM Modi and the Union Government for their efforts to protect 1.4 billion Indians in the digital age. |
