Jammu, Nov 27: Senior Congress leaders today paid floral tributes to Veteran Congress leader, former minister and Ex MP Shri Girdhari Lal Dogra ji on his 38th death anniversary today.
Working President JKPCC Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Former minister Yogesh Sawhney, Ex MLA Balbir Singh, Narinder Sharma, Sanjeev Panda, Rajesh Sharma, Vijay Shashtri, Sohit Sharma, Rakesh Sharma and others attended the function at G L Dogra statue chowk opposite Gulistan Ground, Jammu, organised by G L Dogra trust and attended by leaders of various political parties and social organizations prominent individuals besides family members of Dogra ji, to pay tributes to the great leader
The leaders offered floral tributes and recalled the contributions of great Congress leader of the Jammu and Kashmir who played a significant role in the constitutional history of Jammu and Kashmir besides at the national level.
Recalling Shri Dogra, the congress leaders said that he was widely regarded as one of the tallest leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, served as a dedicated leader of the Indian National Congress and played a pivotal role in the political landscape of the region for several decades.
A man of the people, he was known for his deep commitment to the secular values and welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and for championing the rights of its citizens, especially in terms of equality, job opportunities, and ensuring justice and equitable development of all regions of J&K.
Having served as Finance Minister for an impressive 26 years, Shri Dogra's influence was felt both in the corridors of power in Delhi and at the grassroots level in Jammu and Kashmir.
He was close to the first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and Smt. Indira Gandhi and played a significant role in politics, through his life.
He was a stalwart representing both the constituencies of Jammu and Udhampur, and was recognized as a leader with a deep sense of responsibility towards the people he served.
