Early Times Report SAMBA, Nov 27: In a decisive move to ensure food safety and public health, ADC Samba Jagdish Singh, serving as the Adjudicating Authority under the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, has imposed a penalty of ?1.25 lakh on Food Business Operators (FBOs) across the district for serious violations including sale of substandard food products, maintaining unhygienic conditions, and operating without proper licenses or registration. Issuing a stern warning to erring establishments, the ADC has directed all FBOs to strictly adhere to the rules, regulations, and guidelines prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The action reflects the administration's unwavering commitment to safeguarding consumer welfare, as evidenced by the imposition of over ?13 lakh in penalties on various FBOs over the past year while disposing of numerous complaints regarding substandard and unhygienic food items. The district's Food Safety Officers have conducted more than 750 rigorous inspections, resulting in 50 cases being compounded with on-the-spot realization of ?1.05 lakh, demonstrating a systematic and proactive approach to enforcement.
