RAMGARH, Nov 28: The NSS Unit "Prabha" of Government Degree College, Ramgarh, organized a Plantation Drive as part of a series of activities to mark the celebration of Constitution Day. The initiative aimed to instill values of environmental stewardship, civic responsibility, and sustainable living among the youth. A total of 12 students and faculty members participated with great enthusiasm, making the event a vibrant and meaningful contribution to the college's ongoing efforts toward ecological awareness. The drive was conducted under the guidance of Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol, who commended the dedication of the participants. In her address, Dr. Abrol emphasized that environmental protection is not merely a duty but a collective responsibility requiring consistent effort. She highlighted how plantation drives serve as practical steps toward combating climate change, reducing pollution, and preserving biodiversity. Dr. Abrol encouraged students to adopt tree plantation as a lifelong habit and to nurture the saplings they planted, thereby ensuring that the initiative translates into long-term impact. The programme was meticulously coordinated by NSS Programme Officer Prof. Brham Dutt, who motivated students to actively engage in the plantation activity. He reminded them that nurturing trees is not only an act of environmental care but also a way of cultivating discipline, patience, and responsibility. Prof. Dutt stressed that the NSS motto "Not Me, But You" finds true expression in such collective efforts, where individual contributions add up to a larger social good. The plantation drive included the planting of saplings within the college premises, with participants pledging to care for them regularly. The initiative spread the message of protecting and preserving our environment, while fostering a vision of a greener, cleaner, and healthier future. |
