Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 28: In a major action against illegal liquor smuggling, District Police Reasi today apprehended one person and recovered illicit liquor during a routine patrol in Katra. A patrolling team of Police Station Katra, led by PSI Keshav Kumar, was conducting surveillance in Ward No. 3, near Durga Bhawan, when they noticed a person carrying a plastic bag on his right shoulder. Upon spotting the police, the individual attempted to hide himself, which raised suspicion. Acting swiftly, the police party intercepted and detained him. During checking, 11 quarters of DMB JK Special Whiskey (250 ml each) were recovered from his possession. During preliminary enquiry, the accused disclosed his identity as: Atul Khatri S/O Pawan Kumar R/O House No. 11, Ward No. 12, Arli Road, Katra. Taking cognizance of the matter, FIR No. 319/2025 U/S 223(a) has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS reiterated that District Police Reasi is committed to eradicating illegal trade and ensuring strict action against violators. The drive against bootlegging and other unlawful activities shall continue. |
