Jammu, Nov 28: The Indian Red Cross Society, J&K organised an extensive Junior and Youth Red Cross Awareness Programme at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu, aimed at sensitising young students about humanitarian values and equipping them with essential life-saving skills. A large group of students and young volunteers participated in the programme, where they received a comprehensive orientation on the fundamental principles of the Red Cross, its humanitarian services, disaster preparedness efforts, community health initiatives, and the importance of volunteerism. Participants were also given hands-on demonstrations of basic first aid, CPR techniques and emergency response procedures, helping them understand how timely assistance can save lives. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS J&K, who interacted closely with the participants throughout the event. He engaged in one-on-one conversations with the students, addressed their queries, and guided them on the various roles and opportunities available for young volunteers within the Red Cross Movement. During his interaction, the General Secretary shared his encouraging message with the participants, stating: “Youth are the backbone of the Red Cross Movement. When young people learn first aid and understand humanitarian values, they become capable of creating safer and more compassionate communities. I urge each participant to stay connected with Red Cross activities and continue contributing towards humanity in every possible way.” The students expressed great enthusiasm and appreciated the practical knowledge gained during the session. Many of them shared that the programme boosted their confidence to respond responsibly in emergency situations. The event concluded with a brief interaction round and participation certificates were also distributed to acknowledge the involvement and commitment of the young attendees. IRCS J&K reaffirmed its commitment to organising more such youth-centric programmes to strengthen community resilience and build a strong network of trained, aware, and responsible young volunteers across the Union Territory. |
