MALIGAON, Nov 28: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully completed the electrification of both pit lines at Kamakhya Junction, thus enhancing operational capabilities at the station. This significant infrastructure upgrade marks a major milestone in enhancing maintenance capabilities and preparing the station for the efficient handling and upkeep of upcoming Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat train services. To further strengthen maintenance capabilities, 08 numbers of pedestals have been newly constructed to support Pantograph (Panto) and Roof Mounted Package Unit (RMPU) maintenance activities specifically required for Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat train sets. These installations will ensure safer, faster and more efficient periodic servicing of the advanced rolling stock. In addition, comprehensive staff training has been successfully completed, equipping maintenance teams with the necessary technical knowledge and operational readiness to handle the specialized requirements of these modern trains. The training included hands-on sessions focused on electrified pit line safety, Panto/RMPU servicing procedures and modern maintenance protocols. These upgrades reflect NFR's commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure, improving maintenance efficiency, and preparing the Northeast for the introduction of premium, next-generation passenger services. Aligned with Indian Railways' ambitious Net-Zero mission to achieve a carbon-neutral network by 2030, this progress brings NFR closer to deploying upgraded, state-of-the-art trains into regular operations and delivering enhanced, sustainable rail services to passengers across the region. |
