REASI, Nov 30: In continued action against drug trafficking, District Police Reasi achieved another success during the intervening night of 29/30 November 2025, when a patrolling party of Police Station Katra apprehended a narcotics peddler and seized illicit drugs from his possession.
During routine naka checking on the Katra-Udhampur road near the Helipad, the police team noticed a pedestrian coming from the Panthal side towards Katra. On seeing the police party, the individual attempted to flee, raising suspicion. The alert police personnel promptly chased and apprehended him.
On questioning, he identified himself as Jamad Ali S/O Abdul Haq R/O Paroh Kheri, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi.
During frisking, the police recovered heroin (Chitta) weighing 4.43 grams, packed in a transparent polypack, from the right pocket of his trousers.
Taking cognizance of the recovery, Case FIR No. 322/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway.
The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
