| Traffic Rural Jammu conducts special drive against overloading, use of pressure horns | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 8: Traffic Rural Jammu conducted a week long Special Drive against overloading of passengers and use of Pressure horns w.e.f. 01/12/2025 to 07/12/2025. During the drive, 505 Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) of various categories were challaned including 140 Buses, 151 Mini Buses and 88 Taxies/Cabs across all the four districts of Kathua, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch. It was observed that there is high intensity of overloading in various PSVs especially in out of sight rural areas during the morning and evening hours. Out of 505 PSVs challaned, 201 vehicles (mostly buses) are those challaned for overloading of passengers ranging between 05-15. A drive against the use of pressure horns was also undertaken w.e.f. 03/12/2025 to 07/12/2025 and during the drive, 99 vehicles, including 15 passenger vehicles and 84 goods carriers, were challaned for the violation of anti-pollution norms. During the period, 53 awareness programmes were also organized by the field Officers wherein general public including students, drivers etc. were sensitized to obey traffic rules and adopt all safety measures to prevent road accidents. SSP Traffic Rural, Jammu Farooq Qaiser has requested the general public to observe traffic rules in letter and spirit so that the safety level of the passengers is raised in the hilly areas of the Districts. He further added that such drives shall continue in future as well. |
