JAMMU, Dec 12: A significant session was held at Jammu Railway Station to raise awareness about the new Labour Codes. Regional Labour Commissioner, Jammu, Smt.Nirmala Kanwat, and Labour Enforcement Officer, Smt.Suman Sindra, were present and explained the key provisions of the labour laws. Railway officials and employees were also in attendance. The objective of this session was to inform all stakeholders, especially construction workers, about the benefits of the new Labour Codes. These benefits include fixed-term employees receiving the same benefits as permanent employees (such as social security, medical cover, and paid leave), minimum wages and timely payment for all workers, permission for women to work in all shifts, and legal recognition for gig and platform workers.
Nirmala Kanwat emphasized that these new codes are a major step towards improving the living standards of workers and providing them with a safe and transparent work environment. |
