Jammu, Dec 12: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has issued an important amendment to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Rules, 1999, aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in the filing of bail applications. Through Notification No. 39-G of 2025, and with the prior approval of the Lieutenant Governor, the Court has inserted a new provision — Rule 176-A — in Chapter XV of the High Court Rules. Under this newly inserted rule, every bail applicant must clearly state whether a similar application has been filed before the Supreme Court and specify the outcome of such a plea. Applicants are also required to disclose any involvement in other criminal cases, along with full particulars and decisions thereof. The High Court has emphasized that bail applications lacking this mandatory information will not be processed and shall be placed before the Bench only after the required details are provided. The notification was issued by M.K. Sharma, Registrar General, who stated that the amendment is intended to streamline judicial procedures and prevent the concealment of vital information in bail matters. (JNF) |
