Jammu, Dec 14: Balbir Ram Rattan, spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir BJP and former Vice Chairman, has said that the step taken by the Indian Army to install a 105-foot-high national flag (the Tricolour) at the Banwat View Point, located in the border area of Poonch district, is historic, inspiring, and filled with national pride. This initiative will not only strengthen the spirit of patriotism but also raise the morale of citizens living in border areas to new heights.
He said that under this important project, the foundation stone for the flag mast has recently been laid. The foundation stone ceremony was held at Banwat View Point in Bandichechian village, located near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. This location is also considered extremely important from a strategic point of view.
Balbir Ram Rattan said that the installation of such national symbols in border areas not only boosts the confidence of local residents but also sends a strong message of the country’s unity, integrity, and sovereignty. He said that this Tricolour, which will fly at Banwat View Point, will become a living symbol of the indomitable courage, dedication, and supreme sacrifice of Indian Army soldiers deployed to protect the nation’s borders.
The 105-foot-high Tricolour is being established as a permanent tribute dedicated to the bravery, sacrifice, and sense of duty of the Indian Army. It will inspire future generations with the values of national service, discipline, and patriotism. At the same time, it will become a powerful source of pride, security, and confidence for citizens living in border areas.
He mentioned that the formal inauguration of this grand Tricolour is proposed to be held on Republic Day, January 26, 2026.
Praising this nation-building initiative of the Indian Army, he said that such efforts provide citizens with an opportunity to express respect, gratitude, and pride toward their brave soldiers. He expressed confidence that the Tricolour installed at Banwat View Point will give Poonch district a new identity and pride at the national level.
