| High Court staff clinch 15-run win over High Court advocates at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 14: A thrilling cricket match was played today between High Court Staff and High Court Advocates at the historic Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Sonwar, Srinagar, where the High Court Staff recorded a memorable 15-run victory. The iconic venue, home ground of Jammu & Kashmir cricket, added prestige and excitement to the keenly contested encounte. After winning the toss, High Court Staff elected to bat first and got off to a solid start with a 50-run opening partnership. Ishfaq scored 21 runs while Shoaib contributed 24, laying a strong platform for the innings. Building on this, an outstanding unbeaten stand of 175 runs between Junaid Ayoub and Uzair Nazir took the innings to a commanding position, enabling the team to post an imposing total of 216/3 in 20 overs. The highlight of the innings was a magnificent knock of 106 not out by Junaid Ayoub, whose strokeplay dominated the proceedings and anchored the Staff’s innings. Supporting him brilliantly at the other end, Uzair Nazir remained unbeaten on 29, ensuring that the momentum was maintained till the very end. In recognition of his match-winning century, Junaid Ayoub was deservedly declared Player of the Match. Chasing 217, High Court Advocates showed great fighting spirit and kept the contest alive till the closing stages. Azam Pandith led the reply with a brilliant 100, well supported by Arif Sikander, who added a valuable 34 runs. Despite their determined effort, the Advocates eventually fell 15 runs short of the target, bringing an end to a highly competitive and entertaining game. The match was played in an excellent sporting spirit, with both teams displaying skill, discipline and camaraderie, making it a memorable occasion for players and spectators at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar.
