PLS releases Book of Dr Monojit of Essays on Writers

JAMMU, Dec 17: A collection of essays in Punjabi, titled 'Mittar Asaadfe Sei' written by a renowned writer Dr. Monojit from Jammu, was released by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu in a function organized at K L Saigal Auditorium, Writers' Club, Cultural Academy, Jammu, today. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary JKAACL presided over the programme whereas Dr. Baljit Kour, Former HoD, PG Deptt. of Punjabi, University of Jammu was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina, President, PLS-J, and Sh. Popinder Singh Paras, Chief Editor Sheeraza Punjabi shared the dais.
Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina, President, PLS-J extended a formal welcome to the guests, writers and the intellectuals present in the auditorium. A paper on the content and critical evaluation of the released book 'Mittar Asaadre Sei', was presented by Dr. Harsimran Singh, Asstt. Prof. PG Deptt. of Punjabi, University of Jammu.
It may be mentioned that the released book is a collection of seventeen essays on the lives of prominent writers of Jammu & Kashmir, his experiences of life with them, and their role in spreading the literary traditions of the region in various languages. So far, Dr. Monojit has contributed nineteen poetry, fiction and essays books to the literary world of Jammu & Kashmir. The released book has been dedicated by Dr. Monojit to his young brother.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn in his presidential address appreciated Dr. Monojit for performing his role as a satirist as well as a writer, with commitment and truthfulness in his expressions. He said that the released book not only relates to the fifteen writers of Jammu & Kashmir, but reflects on the importance of documentation of those great contributors. He termed Dr. Monojit as a wise writer, and gave few glimpses of the pieces of essays included in the book. He also reflected on his personal experiences with some of the writers included in the book. He said that Dr. Monojit knows how to deal with different people. He also appreciated the critical paper presented by Dr. Harsinran Singh. He said that the scholars would benefit from this book. He also emphasized on the need of recognizing the writers present in us.
