Jammu, Dec 22: The misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate fake railway tickets has emerged as a new challenge for railway authorities, prompting intensified vigilance and enforcement measures across the Jammu Division of Northern Railway. To enhance passenger safety, ensure compliance with railway rules, and curb ticket fraud, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway, under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) Uchit Singhal, conducted regular awareness and enforcement campaigns. As part of these efforts, a special drive against fake Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) tickets was carried out from December 15 to December 21 across all railway stations in the division. The primary objective of the campaign was to check the circulation of fake tickets being generated through the misuse of Artificial Intelligence in the current technological era and to educate passengers about the importance of travelling only with valid and authentic tickets. The drive was launched following the recent detection of a fake railway ticket created using AI in the Jaipur Division of North Western Railway. In response, teams constituted by the Sr. DCM were deployed at every station in the Jammu Division to carry out intensive checks. The drive was launched following the recent detection of a fake railway ticket AI in the Jaipur Division of North Western Railway. the week-long campaign, more than 2,200 unreserved UTS tickets were verified across the division. Advanced verification methods, including checking unique ID numbers and scanning QR codes, were used to identify fraudulent tickets. As a result, four cases of fake UTS unreserved tickets created using Artificial Intelligence were detected, and appropriate penalties were imposed on the offenders. Commenting on the initiative, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the campaign was aimed at preventing digital fraud and ensuring a safe, transparent, and uniform travel experience for passengers. He noted that such drives are also intended to curb the activities of unauthorised ticket agents misusing emerging technologies for personal gain. Singhal further said that similar campaigns will continue to be conducted in the future to stay ahead of evolving forms of digital fraud. He urged passengers not to tamper with railway tickets using Artificial Intelligence or any other digital means, warning that such acts are punishable offences and will invite strict action. The railway administration has appealed to passengers to remain vigilant and ensure they travel only with valid and genuine tickets, reiterating its commitment to passenger safety and fraud-free railway operations. |
