Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 12: National Youth Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and intellectual fervour at GGM Science College, Jammu, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of India's greatest spiritual leaders and enduring icons of youth inspiration. The event aimed to motivate students to imbibe the values of self-belief, discipline, service to society, and nation-building, as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda. The programme witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and staff, reflecting the vibrant spirit of youth and the college's strong commitment to holistic education.
The celebration began with a formal welcome address that underlined the significance of National Youth Day in the contemporary world, where young minds play a decisive role in shaping the future of the nation. Speakers highlighted that Swami Vivekananda's ideas on education, character-building, and youth empowerment are timeless and continue to guide generations toward purposeful living and responsible citizenship.
On this occasion, the Students Welfare and Mentoring Committee/Yuva Mission Committee of the college, under the supervision of Dr. Mona Sethi, Convener of the Committee, organised an offline/online quiz competition. The activity provided students with an engaging and interactive platform to deepen their understanding of the life, philosophy, and enduring message of Swami Vivekananda. Students from various departments participated enthusiastically, making the event lively and intellectually stimulating. The quiz aimed to encourage reflection on core values such as self-confidence, dedication to service, moral strength, and commitment to national progress.
Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College, Jammu, appreciated the efforts of the organising committee and applauded the students for their active and enthusiastic involvement. He emphasised that National Youth Day serves as a powerful reminder of the immense potential of young people and the responsibility they shoulder in shaping the nation's future. Elaborating on Swami Vivekananda's philosophy of strength, courage, and selfless service, Dr. Gupta urged students to channel their energy into constructive pursuits, scientific innovation, social responsibility, and ethical leadership. He reiterated that youth are not merely the leaders of tomorrow but the change-makers of today.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the dedicated efforts of the organising committee, faculty members, and students for making the celebration meaningful, inspiring, and impactful.
