Jammu, Jan 18: The ongoing 3rd Chancellor’s Trophy (Men & Women) Championship 2025–26, organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, were conducted successfully at the University of Jammu campus with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit. The day was highlighted by the conduct of semi-final matches across various disciplines, adding intensity and excitement to the championship. The championship, being held from 15th to 19th January 2026, has witnessed the participation of over 800 athletes representing different universities and institutions from the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and neighboring states. The event continues to serve as a vital platform for young sportspersons to demonstrate their talent, resilience, and sportsmanship while promoting a strong sporting culture in the region. Competitions are being conducted in Volleyball (Men), Kabaddi (Men), Football (Men), Wrestling (Men), Table Tennis (Men), Kho-Kho (Women), Badminton (Women), Basketball (Men & Women), Handball (Men & Women), and Athletics (Men & Women). The fourth day featured several closely fought semi-finals and decisive final encounters, drawing appreciation from spectators, officials, and sports administrators alike. Athletes displayed exceptional skill, tactical awareness, teamwork, and determination, making the matches highly competitive and engaging. The presence of senior university officials, coaches, and team representatives further enhanced the significance of the day’s proceedings and boosted the morale of the participating teams. The entire championship is being conducted under the direct supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu. His leadership, vision, and continuous guidance have been instrumental in ensuring the smooth, disciplined, and successful conduct of the championship. The organizing committee, along with technical officials, referees, and support staff, continues to work diligently to uphold the highest standards of fair play, transparency, and sportsmanship. |
