University of Jammu dominates 3rd Chancellor's Trophy, bags overall championship

JAMMU, Jan 19: University of Jammu once again showed its supremacy by lifting Overall Trophy of the 3rd Chancellor's Trophy 2025-26 for Men & Women organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education at University of Jammu w.e.f 15th to 19th January 2026. The University of Jammu bagged 11 winning trophies and 02 runners up trophies to lift the overall championship trophy where as Cluster University of Jammu finished with overall runners up and University of Ladakh remained overall 2nd runner up of the said championship 2025-26.
Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the Valedictory-cum-Prize Distribution Function of the said event where as Dr. Dharminder Magotra (CDC), University of Jammu, Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director Sports, Cluster University of Jammu, Dr. G.M Lone, Secretary Sports, Cluster University of Srinagar were Guests of Honour amidst large number of gathering of dignitaries, players and officials of the participating Universities and Institutes employees & students of the University as well as the people from the civil society.
While addressing the gathering Dr. Neeraj Sharma, congratulated the organizers for organizing such type of Sports events, which will provide an opportunity to the students of the various Universities and Institutes to come closer to each other besides showing their Sports talent. He emphasized upon the active participation in physical activities of the students as mentioned in NEP-2020 also. He appreciated the mass participation of the players and officials accompanying their teams of the various Universities and Institutes of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and neighboring states.
Earlier, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presented formal Report of the said championship in which he briefed about the conduct of the whole event where in around 800 players from the various Universities and Institutes across the region and neighboring states in men and women section participated.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Lakshika Jamwal along with Yamnesh Thakur, while the formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mandeep Singh, Assistant Professor Directorate of Sports & Physical Education University of Jammu. The entire championship was conducted under the direct supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Among others present there were, Dr. Mandeep Singh, Dr. Vimal Kishore, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, Padam Dev Singh, Jai Bharat, S. Harinderpal Singh, Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Dr. Mahak, Rishiv Sharma, Richa Mandla, Dr. Devish and officials of the participating teams.
