GGM Science College Jammu Commences Vande Mataram celebrations with Patriotic Fervour

JAMMU, Jan 19: In tune with the 2nd phase nationwide commemoration marking 150 years of the national song "Vande Mataram", Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu today commenced the 2nd phase celebrations with a meaningful and vibrant programme on the college campus, reflecting deep patriotic spirit and national commitment.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, non-teaching staff, students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, creating an atmosphere charged with national pride. The programme was organised as part of the broader initiative to sensitise the youth about the historical, cultural and emotional significance of Vande Mataram in India's freedom struggle and nation-building journey.
The event featured the collective rendition of Vande Mataram, patriotic songs, and a pledge reaffirming commitment towards the ideals of unity, integrity, and the vision of a Viksit Bharat. Students actively participated, highlighting the role of educational institutions in nurturing responsible, aware and patriotic citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College Jammu, said that Vande Mataram is not merely a song but the soul of India's freedom movement. "Educational institutions have a vital role in connecting young minds with the values of nationalism, constitutional ethos and collective responsibility. Through such celebrations, we aim to instil a sense of pride, duty and commitment among students towards the nation," he remarked.
The Principal further stated that GGM Science College will continue to organise a series of activities during the celebration period, including lectures, cultural programmes and student-led initiatives, to deepen awareness about India's freedom struggle, constitutional values and the vision of a developed and inclusive India. He appreciated the active involvement of students and faculty in making the inaugural event meaningful and impactful.
