1/21/2026 10:40:34 PM
Early Times Report

Rajouri, Jan 21: The NSS Unit of S. G. Government Degree College Doongi, under the able chairmanship of Principal Dr. Chanchal Angral, organised an awareness lecture on “National Consciousness” with special emphasis on road safety and civic discipline, carrying the patriotic message of “Vande Mataram” to commemorate the 150th year of national pride “Vande Mataram”.
The programme featured Dr. Mohammed Fareed, Department of Education, as the resource person. In his address, he explained the legal framework of road safety provisions and critically highlighted the gaps and loopholes in the implementation of various laws at the grassroots level.
He pointed out that ineffective enforcement is often the result of collective shortcomings involving administrative authorities as well as other stakeholders. Stressing the role of youth, he urged students to develop a strong sense of civic responsibility, discipline, and patriotism, which are essential for building a conscious and responsible society.
Students actively participated in the programme, while several faculty members were also present to support the initiative.
The proceedings of the event were smoothly conducted by Dr. Pratima Bhushan, Department of Environmental Science. Among the faculty members present were Dr. Zahoor Ahmed (Department of Education), Dr. Nishu Sharma (Department of Hindi), Dr. Mohd. Ikram Fareed (Department of Geography), Mr. Shafiat Hussain, and Dr. Shokit Hussain.
The programme was coordinated by Prof. Ahsan Ahmed, Nodal Officer, NSS Unit, in collaboration with Dr. Pratima Bhushan. The event concluded with a pledge by students to follow traffic rules, uphold civic discipline, and contribute positively towards strengthening national consciousness.
